I became interested in homoeopathy through a personal experience. In 1978 my husband spent a year working in the Gulf. He left a healthy thirty six-year-old and returned a very ill man. He had gained nearly six stone in weight, had no energy at all - even walking up one flight of stairs brought on excessive perspiration and exhaustion, and he had a chronic, very productive cough.
After two years of conventional medical examinations he was no better despite being told there was nothing wrong with him. A friend suggested he try homoeopathy. I was instinctively sceptical but he was desperate. To my amazement, after twenty-four hours of horrendous worsening of his symptoms, he started to improve. Shedding the weight, regaining his energy and cough disappearing he returned to the healthy man I had always known.
I decided to consult a homoeopath myself, not for any specific illness, but as a way of keeping myself healthy. When my children were born homoeopathy was the only treatment they were given. Now in their twenties they are both athletic and healthy.
I started going to homoeopathy first aid classes and began treating family and friends using my homoeopathic first aid remedy kit. The results were encouraging and I decided to embark on the four-year professional course qualifying in 1991.
Over the years since then I have experienced the fulfilment that comes from seeing patients heal, blossom and grow as they are treated.
I have also taught first aid homoeopathy classes in adult education, run small tutorial groups for students and supervised them in their final year and early years of practice.
I don't specialise in one area; I am still discovering how good homoeopathy can be to every age, gender and condition.
